Do Something Great: Growth and Innovation

Seeking out new innovative ideas, life philosophies, business practices, wealth management strategies, health and wellness data, and ideas for income streams provides opportunities for us to grow personally and professionally. We can tap into our intuitive intelligence and expand our thinking on a continuous basis to life our fullest life. When we strive to improve ourselves, we are doing something great not only for ourselves, but also for all of the people in our lives because the choices we make affect everything around us.

Sometimes we find something new and exciting that sparks our imagination and helps us to create new practices and habits that lead to success. Other times we may circle back to something that has helped us in the past and in our review we may find a new application for an idea or a new way to apply a process. Can you think of an example of this happening to you? Is there something you learned about when you were young that has circled back around into your life, offering you more insight and depth of understanding as you mature?

Many years ago I discovered Tim Ferriss and The 4-Hour Workweek It was a highly useful book for finding new ways to think about living life and managing my professional life. Stepping out of the old paradigms and systems and looking at the world in a brand-new way can be huge in how we approach our lives. This book inspired me to start creating my own business and fueled my desire to exit the corporate world.

More recently I circled back to the author’s podcast and especially enjoyed this particular episode, #329: Jason Fried — How to Live Life on Your Own Term‪s. I don’t agree with every single thing (such as reading news papers) that was discussed, but overall this was a very positive and innovative conversation that reminds me of why I prefer to operate in a non-traditional manner when it comes to business strategy. After years of unimportant acronyms and meaningless reports in corporate America, I have come to appreciate that which offers true value and discard all of that which does not.

Marie Kondo‘s   “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” was a great book and affected me in so many positive ways. This book truly changes how we manage our spaces which affects all of the other aspects of our lives. This book offers a great way to think about all the baggage that we hang onto and how to clean up our physical spaces to move our life forward mentally, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. I have streamlined the way in which I manage my belongings but have a collection of items I want to sell. I signed up for this Side Hustle Challenge from Chalene Johnson to make it fun and to hold myself accountable.

I am currently reading Your Next Five Moves: Master the Art of Business Strategy by Patrick Bet-David. This book is described with the following “Both successful entrepreneurs and chess grandmasters have the vision to look at the pieces in front of them and anticipate their next five moves. In this book, Patrick Bet-David translates this skill into a valuable methodology that applies to high performers at all levels of business. ” It looks at ways to develop clarity, create strategy, implement growth tactics, develop team building, and offers insight on creating leverage in our business whether we are an entrepreneur or “intrapreneur”. I am definitely on the entrepreneur track and am enjoying a chapter about creating effective teams.

Next up will be FANtastic Marketing by Meredith Oliver and The Complete Guide to Fasting (Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting) by Dr. Jason Fung.

Researching innovative marketing concepts, investing strategies, and self-care ideas helps me to connect to my best self while continually growing, changing, and becoming better at what I do for both myself as well as in relation to the people that I am connected to both personally and professionally.

I would love to hear about what you are reading, listening to, and learning about that is making a difference in your life. You are invited to please leave a note in the comments below about what exciting and new things you are exploring and learning.
