I just had a fun weekend visit to Holly, Michigan. We stayed at the Holly Crossing Bed and Breakfast where our hosts were gracious, the room comfortable, and the breakfast was just right. It was a relaxing place to stay and we enjoyed talking with the owners who had many interesting stories and information about the Holly area.

The historic village is filled with antiques, fun shops restaurants, and the famous Holly Hotel. We had a great meal at the Blackthorn Pub in Holly where the menu was very flexible for those who are vegetarian or gluten free. I loved my kale Cesar salad and my Krampas burger with whipped herb goats cheese, grilled jalapeños and red onion, Smith’s bacon, sriracha mayonnaise, and more sriracha. And because I am gluten free I skipped the bun on the burger and the croutons in the salad. Unlike some restaurants, I felt as though they were very happy to accommodate my requests.

I found a cool spoon ring at RePurpose, a great store owned by Cari Cucksey, an antiques matchmaker who you may know from the popular HGTV show Cash & Cari. I found a great owl pillow at Inspirations Arts and Crafts Workshop which looked like a great place to get creative.

Holly has fun events through out the year, parks to visit, and a comfortable small town feel. We hope to return to check out the Holly Dickens Festival, enjoy the Train Museum, and perhaps catch a comedy show at the Holly Hotel. The town is also close to the Michigan Renaissance Festival that is held throughout August and September.

Overall our visit was a fun weekend getaway and we look forward to returning to Holly for more fun in the future!
